INSPIRATION


Anything and everything can inspire us. Inspiration leads to success.

In an organization the leader should have a positive approach towards motivating his employees. Looking at an issue with a positive perspective can motivate employees to better their performance and exceed the expectations of the management.

The ability to listen, understand and provide solutions and motive his team to fulfill the objectives is the best quality of a leader.

At a certain point in time, employees face challenging situations, to overcome those situations they need a leader who could ease those situations through his motivational talk and provide solutions.

At JIC the managerial cadre is provided with external training to learn and understand the importance of motivating the employees and being successful in their endeavors. The same knowledge is imparted to the other employees by conducting various training sessions and share the inspiring success stories of the achievers and their achievements through the TBT talks so that they perform better in their job role.

The best employee is recognized as Star of the Month and Star of the Star and rewarded for his best performance as a motivation. The others employees get inspired by this recognition and strive to perform better.  

Our sites are awarded with the Best HSE site award for their performance in maintaining the hygiene and other aspects that are taken into consideration.

Not only our employees, our sites but also we appreciate the external stakeholders for their performance through the Best Supplier Award. This award motivates them and they continue to provide their best services and this also acts as a motivation to other suppliers to perform better.

USB Security tips


USB flash drive is a portable plug and play storage device which is convenient, portable and inexpensive. These devices are useful while transferring data from one computer to the other computer. The data can be retained for a longer period and can be used safely.
 
These devices can be used securely when the risks are gauged and proper measures are taken to handle them.   

Here are a few suggestions for minimizing the risk while using the USB drives
 

-   Use passwords or encryption to protect your data

-   Do not use the USB that is found, it might contain virus that will collapse your computer

-   Use antivirus, anti spyware in order to make the computer less vulnerable to the virus attacks. Always use updated software

-    Download applications from a valid and a trusted source

-    Use different USB s for an official use and a personal use

-    Avoid using the computer about which you know nothing, to save your computer from virus attacks.  

-     Disable the Autorun feature, it prevents from opening the file automatically.

In order to avoid these kinds of problems, always be alert and try to use the updated antivirus software and also should be careful on the purchase of these USB s.


Emergency Response Plan

Emergency response plan is necessary in any facility or organization to protect the lives of the employees, contractors and visitors.

This plan helps the employees to actively respond to the emergency situations like fire, accident etc. During emergencies life safety should be the first priority.

We at JIC follow this process for Emergency Response Plan


-   An Emergency response plan to identify the 
   potential hazard or emergency scenarios that can 
   occur in a facility or organization is made.




-   Evacuation plan is made and is displayed at every corner of our facilities and is visible for the employees or visitors to evacuate from the nearest exit in case of emergencies.  

-  Our Emergency Response Team is a well trained team and is equipped to take necessary and immediate action during the emergency situations.

-    Continuous training is provided to the staff and Mock Drills are conducted to familiarize with the emergency situation that might occur at the work premises and the action to be taken.

    -  Mock drills are basically creating an accident scene and checking how well the staff is aware about their action and responds during the emergency situations.

     -   Our employees are trained to use the available resources like fire extinguishers during a fire accident, special internal training is given for handing the chemical spill kit which helps in handling the hazardous situation like handling hazardous chemicals during the heavy spillage and disposal of it.

-    Our staff is very well trained for providing first aid during an emergency situation until the injured person is taken to hospital for further treatment.

 It is mandatory to have an Emergency Plan for any organization to help minimize the damage to the facility or to save the employee lives.

Importance of Reconciling the Books of Accounts

Reconciling the Ledgers of the books of accounts is a critical control exercise which helps in ensuring the financial wellness of any organization.

It should become one of the core routine activities of the Account’s Department concentrating on the efficient results and the accuracy. It also helps in accessing the nature and the causes of the variances.Though it is a tedious process, if done periodically, it results in an accurate and efficient reporting. 

The main purpose of the Ledger accounts reconciliation is for few of the following reasons:

1) To identify the ledger accounts that doesn’t match 
2) Wrong posting of entries (i.e., to other ledger heads)
3) Double Entries

Pass adjustment entries for the correction to ensure that the books of accounts are reconciled at the end of financial closing.

Most importantly the accurate financial information should be provided to the management as a basis for their business economic decision making.

We should consider the reconciliation process as a good housekeeping as it identifies errors and omissions in the accounting process, including invalid journal entries and double entries, so that it can be corrected. This process helps in detecting frauds and serves as a major tool for audit process.


This reconciliation process not only assists you in keeping your accounts reconciled but also provides accurate financial information for a better decision making.

Al Jazeera International Catering honored with Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Leadership Award 2016


Al Jazeera International catering was awarded the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Leadership Award 2016 in the Best Sustainability Initiative criteria. This award was presented by H. E. Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary General - Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) and Huda Al Houqani, Director, ADSG at a Grand Ceremony held at the Rosewood Hotel, Abu Dhabi on 16th Feb 2016

Mr. Robby Thommy, Managing Director, Al Jazeera International Catering, conveyed that this award is in recognition of our sustainability best practices and our engagement with the community, creating shared value and in doing so, making us more productive.

This award continues to motivate us to use our resources in a manner whereby they are around for future generations.

He congratulated the staff for their unstinted support and cooperation in all the endeavours and said this award wouldn’t have been possible if it was not for each of their behaviour and attitude towards a more sustainable future.

Employee Retention Strategies


Employee retention is the most important aspect of any company.

We at JIC have taken effective steps to build an effective employee engagement and retention strategy which helps in increased productivity, a pleasant work atmosphere and a great employee retention rate.

Here are few steps we follow to retain our employees:

Clear career metrics is provided to our employees:

As every employee in any organization tries to envisage his future in the company he is working, the same way employer also look at the continued relationship with the employee. Keeping that in mind we have designed a metric for every employee of our company, we discuss the objectives set for each employee and monitor his performance. All the required training and the tools are offered to enable the employee to perform and upgrade his/her skills and grow on the set career path.

Work life Balance

Having a healthy work life balance is very important for an employee to better his performance. We follow an appropriate work life balance strategy like conducting staff welfare activities, team building activities and recreational facilities. The activities are conducted on a fortnightly and monthly basis. As most of our employees hail from different parts of the world, they miss the family and friends back in their country, these activities help them in distressing, rejuvenating and getting back to work refreshed.

Recognition

Employee’s hard work is recognized and paid off, is what he looks at. If the hard work to achieve and exceed the expectations of the employee is not recognized, then it lowers his morale. 
At JIC we recognized the hard work and the remarkable achievement made in the career path in all fairness and consistent performance of our employees. The employee who has fulfilled all the objectives and excelled in his performance is brought to the notice of the management and is appropriately rewarded as the star of the month and the best of the star of the month will be rewarded with star of the year award and special incentives are given to the well deserved employees. These kinds of activities help the employee to retain in the company for a longer period.

Open Door Policy

One of the important polices we have at JIC is Open Door Policy, This policy has enabled us to be open in accepting the criticism and the feedback received from our employees. Often the scenario is, though the open door policy is in place, employees don’t feel comfortable in talking out their issues with the management. At JIC the management makes it a point to build a rapport with the employees through the TBT talks, Coffee with MD sessions and the casual talks which builds the confidence in our employees to share their grievances and it has worked out really well. Today our employees share their grievances boldly without having the fear of being chided.

Communication

Clear communication helps in performing the appropriate employee engagement strategies. We let our employees feel that they play a vital role in our achievements and the same is communicated to them, apart from the achievements the latest developments of the company is also communicated to them through our most effective communication media the Jazeera Communication Cascade, through the intranet portal and through emails.
