Our Safety Our Responsibility

The theme plays a major role in the lives of the Staff of JIC. We celebrated World Health & Safety day on 28-04-2015 and reaffirmed the commitments we have towards health and safety of our stakeholders.

In order to make our staff understand the Importance of effective safety culture within the organization, Loganathan Murthy – Head HSET, made a presentation on 5 W’s (WHY, WHERE, WHAT, WHEN & WHO) of Safety. In his presentation he explained the importance of safety. To ensure that we lead a happy life, one has to inculcate safety as his routine and not consider it as a burden. He also mentioned that safety is not a new concept or requirement but it is practiced from childhood and it’s been part of our lives. He said everyone is a safety ambassador in our organization and we consider it as our responsibility and our duty.

In our question hour, one of our employees from the Dining Department said that “I used to play cricket and other games with proper protective gears and I believe that’s how we can protect ourselves for the injuries. I used to follow safety measures since my childhood.” - Utpal Kumar

There was also a competition conducted on the Importance of safety. Our employees must have taken acting classes on the side because they enacted plays depicting their understanding on safety as a culture and they did a damn good job on that. Every other team, a total of 4 came up with a unique yet simple concept and it was completely communicated.

Each team performed on the areas like driving safe, heat stress, work place hazards, trip and fall so on and so forth. The major focus was on work safety and the message was a bang in between the drums on how important safety is in our daily lives. The competition was tough and so was the decision. The Team Grinders won the competition due to their makeup ( they were dressed with powder on their faces) and executing the theme Work Place Safety.

Sugin our Operations Manager shared his words of wisdom on Safety. He said, ‘Safety is No Single Person’s Responsibility but Everybody’s Responsibility’.

He also shared an incident that took the life of his colleague. That colleague of his lost his life because he did not exercise caution at work place and did not follow the safety procedures. In his speech he said if there is any safety concern at work place, it has to be reported immediately and they should continue to adhere to safety and follow it at all times.

Saving lets you spend more.

Common doubt all of us have; “How can one save money when the monthly income is not sufficient enough to fulfill my needs?”

Building financial stability depends on how one saves his hard earned money.

Saving doesn't mean that we are purchasing items in discounted prices or by spending money within our means but it is basically keeping aside some money and forgetting about it and resist the spending pressure.

Set a target to yourself on how much you should save and by what time.

Be patient. is the key to achieve your financial stability.

Some simple and easy tips to follow:

ü  Plan your budgets; be stringent with your spending desire. Don’t fall a prey for tempting deals advertised and buy things which are not planned for. Not all deals are as lucrative as advertised so think before you buy any items that are there on the offer.

ü  Master the one week rule.  Whenever there is an unplanned purchase requirement, wait for one week and then reconsider thinking whether you still require that item to be purchased.

ü  Most of us have a habit of purchasing branded and expensive items. When we have a desire to purchase these items give it a second thought. Do you really require buying this item?

ü  Evaluate your house rentals. If you exert enough effort on searching the desired house, little less expensive that the one you chose with a high rent, you can save a little.

ü  Prevent unnecessary usage of electricity helps in saving money.

ü  Quit your expensive habits like cigarettes and alcohol.

Initially it might be little difficult to follow the tips but a proven fact of restrain for 60 days will help you master your art. Through persistent attempts one can achieve the desired results.
