Culture is the strong foundation where the
organization’s strategies and performance is based. Organizational culture is
the only sustainable point where it differentiates one organization to the
other. It is an invisible driving force which influences the employees of the
organization.
To improve the performance in any
organization the key lies in matching the culture or the attributes to
organizational goals.
There are 4 types of organizational culture
which offer a simple means of categorization and understanding.
Collaborate
culture:
The organizations use a more open and
friendly atmosphere a la family, hence the name. There is an internal focus for
integration which emphasis on flexibility. There is a lot of importance given
to the human resources development and unity of the organization. The team
work, participation of the employees and the mutual agreement are given the top
priority.
Create Culture:
The organizations emphasize more on
flexibility and discretion, but the inward focus is not the same as collaborate
culture. The organization creates a dynamic, creative, innovative, and
risk-taking work place which is embraced by the employees.
Control
Culture:
The organization is highly structured for
authority and decision making, and the control is on the internal focus and
integration. The employees and the hierarchy strive to be
good coordinators and organizers who are efficient.
Compete
Culture:
These organizations are similar to that of the
Control culture. The stability and control is valued and the focus is more on
an external orientations like long term relationship with the clients and
suppliers and the differentiation over integration is more valued.
